KsTU SRC Joins Regional Minister for Independence Day Clean-Up Exercise in Kumasi

In a remarkable display of community service and patriotism, Mr. Lameck Sarfo, the President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) led his team to join the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, for a special Independence Day clean-up exercise. The event was organised by the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and it was meant to enhance cleanliness in Kumasi as part of the city’s celebrations on Ghana’s 68th Independence Day.

The clean-up exercise saw participation from a diverse group of stakeholders, including the Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Michael Owusu Amoako;  Metropolitan Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Dwira; Regional and Metropolitan Security Heads, residents of Alabar and other organised groups. 

 

Mr. Lameck Sarfo and the KsTU SRC team worked tirelessly alongside other participants, demonstrating their commitment to making Kumasi cleaner and more vibrant city. This initiative underscores KsTU’s longstanding partnership with the RCC which reflects the University’s dedication to supporting regional development and environmental sustainability.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Sarfo emphasised the importance of collective action in maintaining a clean environment, stating, “As students, we are proud to contribute to the development of Kumasi. A clean city is a healthy city, and we are honoured to join hands with the Regional Minister on this significant day.”

 

Kumasi Technical University continues to foster a strong relationship with the RCC, collaborating on various initiatives that promote community welfare and development. The participation of the KsTU SRC in the clean-up exercise is a testament to the University’s role as a proactive partner in the region.

About KsTU

Kumasi Technical University was established in 1954 as Kumasi Technical Institute (K. T. I. ) to offer craft courses. In 1963, the Institute was converted to a non-tertiary Polytechnic status under the Ghana Education Service to start offering, in addition, technician diploma and sub- professional courses.
