GRASAG-KsTU Holds Handing Over Ceremony for 2024/2025 Executives
The Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) Chapter of the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) has officially handed over its leadership to the newly elected executives for the 2024/2025 academic year. The event, held on Wednesday December 4, 2024, at the JICA Centre, had Faculty staff, students and well-wishers attending.
In his farewell address, the outgoing president, Mr. Awal Mahama, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the members of GRASAG for their unwavering support during his tenure. He commended his team for their dedication and encouraged the new executives to build on the foundation laid during his administration.
The newly elected president, Mr. Adu Sika Aboagye DaCosta, in his inaugural speech, lauded the outgoing executives for their accomplishments. He pledged to work diligently restore confidence and trust in the Association. He highlighted his vision of fostering an inclusive, vibrant, and supportive graduate community that promotes academic excellence, research, and innovation.
“It is an honour to accept the mantle of leadership as your newly elected Graduate School President. I am humbled by the trust you have placed in me and pledge to work tirelessly to serve our Graduate School community. To the outgoing executives, I express my deepest gratitude for your dedication, hard work, and commitment to our Graduate School. Your legacy provides a solid foundation for us to build upon,” Mr. DaCosta stated.
He outlined plans to organise workshops and engage with the University’s Management to secure support for GRASAG initiatives. He also called on members to collaborate in making the Association truly exceptional.
The newly inducted GRASAG-KsTU executives for the 2024/2025 academic year include Mr. Adu Sika Aboagye DaCosta, President; Ahmed Umar Gausu, Vice President; Vida Akuokoh Frimpomaa, General Secretary; Martin Dogbtsey Makafui, Financial Secretary; Bright Fosu Marfo, Organising Secretary; Isaac Boakye, Public Relations Officer and Lawrencia Blessing Koomson, Women’s Commissioner
The Dean of Graduate Studies, Prof. Roland S. Kabange who chaired the ceremony emphasised the importance of collaboration and urged the new executives to be innovative in addressing the challenges faced by the graduate student community.
Prof. Peter Kessels Dadzie, represented the Dean of Students, advised the incoming leadership to prioritise consultation and proactive engagements with stakeholders. “Go with proposals rather than petitions,” he counseled, encouraging the executives to build connections with the past leaders while working towards the welfare of current and future students.
